Communities right across NSW rely on skilled community services workers, and demand keeps growing. Qualified, values driven people are needed in not for profits, government and local organisations, which means genuine opportunity to build a lasting career with purpose at its centre. 

Where this can take you 

With the right qualification, you could work as a community support worker, case worker, welfare support worker, youth worker or family support worker. You might work in family support, homelessness, youth services, domestic and family violence, alcohol and other drugs, or community development. As you gain experience and study further, you can move into case management, program coordination and leadership roles. 

Your pathway 

A great place to begin is the Certificate IV in Community Services, which builds the practical skills for frontline and case work roles. From there, the Diploma of Community Services opens the door to case management and coordination. Keep climbing, and the Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management prepares you for team leader and manager roles, while a Graduate Certificate takes you into senior practice and leadership. Few sectors offer a pathway this clear, from your very first qualification all the way to management.
