If you are the kind of person who notices when someone needs a hand, who is patient, warm and genuinely cares, then aged care and disability support could be the most rewarding work you ever do. Every shift, you help someone hold on to their independence, their dignity and their connection to the people and things they love. That might mean helping an older person stay in their own home, supporting someone with disability to chase a goal, or simply being the friendly face that turns a hard day around. 

Why it matters now 

Aged care and disability support are among the largest and fastest growing areas of work in Australia, and NSW needs thousands more skilled, caring people to fill them. For you, that means real opportunity: a career you can start sooner than you think, in a field where the demand is not going away. 

Where this can take you 

With a nationally recognised qualification behind you, you could work as an aged care worker, a disability support worker, a home care or personal care assistant, or a residential care worker. You might work one on one in someone's home, out in the community, or as part of a team in a care facility. As you grow, you can move into coordination and team leadership, or specialise in areas like dementia support, complex care or community services. 

Your pathway 

Your journey starts with the Certificate III in Individual Support, the recognised entry point into care and the qualification most employers ask for. From there, you can specialise with a Certificate IV in Ageing Support or a Certificate IV in Disability, deepening your skills and opening the door to more senior roles. Ready to lead? Step up into Diploma level study and into supervisor, coordinator and case management roles. It is a genuine ladder, and you can climb it at your own pace. 

How you will learn 

You learn by doing. Alongside the knowledge, you complete supervised work placement that we help arrange, so you build real, hands-on experience and the confidence to walk into a job. Classes are small, so your trainers know your name and your goals. With monthly intakes you are never far from starting, and our wellbeing and learning support team is here whenever you need it, at no extra cost.
