Yoga for Beginners - Taster

The course will give you both a relaxing and uplifting yoga session and also inform and educate you on many benefits yoga can offer. The class will be a basic yoga class with emphasis on improving your flexibility, balance and general body strength.

The class is structured so it’s suitable for both beginners and experienced. A priority is that the yoga is enjoyable, easy to follow and also allows a more experienced student to take options to build into a pose.

We start a class with a grounding, breath work and a warm up, we then take the class into a series of peak postures that will cover most positions, standing, balance, kneeling, sitting and on your back. Inversions are kept to a few simple and easy postures. We encourage the use of props such as a chair (for balance) or the wall and blocks as required.

The class is completed with breathwork, relaxation and an easy meditation.

A typical class structure allows for

  • Introduction on its history
  • Grounding + Breath work
  • Warm up
  • Peak postures and balance
  • Wind down with breath work
  • Relaxation and mediation

Course Outline:

  • learning the basics of yoga so you can join any class
  • The body and mind aspects of yoga
  • some history and background of yoga
  • making yoga easy

Learning Outcomes:

  • how to have some joy with yoga
  • making yoga a part of your wellbeing plan
  • easy relaxation and meditation techniques

What to bring:

  • Yoga Mat
  • Bottle of water
  • Yoga block and strap only if you have them
  • We suggest that a students does not eat for at least 2 hours prior to a class
