Tech Savvy Seniors - Introduction to Android Smartphones
Phones used to be all about making calls, but now your mobile can do so much more. The range of new touchscreen smartphones allows you to access the internet, use social media, get live news updates, play music and video, and much more. They almost universally use touchscreens for control, however, which can be a challenge for people new to the technology.
Basic knowledge of Email is assumed. T
In this course you will learn:
- The basics of how to navigate your way around an android smartphone eg a Samsung with a touchscreen
- How to make voice and video calls
- How to add and manage your contacts
- How to send messages, emails and attach files
- How to access the internet and browse the web safely
- How to take, view and send photos
- How to download and install apps from the Google play store eg zoom
- How to open files stored on your phone such as pdfs
- How to save files stored on your phone to a Pc or USB
What to bring:
- An internet-connected Android smartphone with phone cable and a manual, if possible
- USB cable to connect to your phone
- USB to save files from phone
- An existing Google account (or Google ID), for downloading apps to an Android smartphone. Please make sure you know your password (Optional)
- Pen
- Paper
Who is this session for:
- People over 60
- People over 50 with a lifelong disability
- Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people over 50.

- To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
- All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled before the commencement and you will be informed.
