This workshop is designed for sewers who want to enjoy a relaxed, social sewing experience and walk away with a beautiful, handmade project. This workshop is the perfect opportunity to practice, play, and create something practical that you will love using or gifting.
To make things easy, your apron kit will be pre-cut and ready to sew, so you can jump straight into the fun part without worrying about patterns or cutting fabric. With step-bystep guidance from your tutor, you’ll learn useful sewing techniques, gain confidence with your machine, and enjoy the satisfaction of completing a project in just one day.
Bring along your sewing machine and your foot pedal, everything else is prepared for you. By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a fabulous apron, plenty of sewing inspiration, and maybe even some new sewing friends!
Course Outline:
Welcome and introduction to the workshop
Overview of the apron kit and how to follow simple sewing instructions
Step-by-step guidance through sewing the apron together
Tips and tricks to perfect your apron
Final finishing touches and showing off your completed aprons
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
Complete a handmade apron from start to finish
Learn and practice essential sewing skills such as seams, hems, and topstitching
Gain confidence using their sewing machine on a project
What to bring:
Your sewing machine (in good working order)
Standard sewing kit (scissors, pins, unpicker)
Lunch/snacks and a water bottle
A big smile and willingness to have fun!
(All fabric pieces and apron kits will be supplied, pre-cut and ready to sew.)
About the Tutor:
'I have accumulated over 25 years of extensive experience in the field of sewing. Teaching individuals of all skill levels brings me immense satisfaction, whether they are beginners taking their first steps in the world of sewing or advanced students seeking to enhance their skills further. I also enjoy teaching children’s classes and providing guidance to HSC students as they embark on their final textiles projects. My journey has been enriched by owning and operating my own sewing store. This venture has allowed me to access specialized training and delve into unique sewing skills and techniques while continuously pursuing training on various sewing machine brands and overlockers.
I am devoted and recognize the importance of staying up-to-date with the latest sewing trends, techniques, and advancements in machinery. I constantly make a commitment to ongoing training and professional development that enables me to offer the most relevant and up-to-date knowledge to my students. Furthermore, I am a happy, fun, caring tutor that’s driven by the desire to preserve and invigorate the sewing industry for future generations to enjoy. To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled before the commencement and you will be informed.

Public Transport
From Jannali Station walk to the West side along Jannali railway (heading towards Sutherland), the fourth street on the right is Louise Street. Jannali Centre is at the end of Louise Street

Accessible toilet and ground floor wheelchair access available Monday – Friday 9:00am-5:00pm, see Reception for directions to room. After hours and weekends look for the Customer Service Representative for room directions. Onsite Cafe open Monday to Friday 8:00am-3:00pm, Sat 8:30am – 1:30pm. Outside these hours there are drink/snack vending machines onsite.
