This session will give you a perfect start into the popular sport of kayaking. Includes 1/2 hour of instruction on technique and safety with a qualified instructor followed by 1 hour of unguided kayak hire where you can practice your new skills. Includes the use of kayak, paddle, personal floatation device, and notes. Pre-requisite: No previous paddling experience is necessary however, all participants must be competent swimmers and reasonably fit.

Our main base is in the Bonnie Vale picnic grounds in Bundeena. If arriving by ferry, we are a leisurely 15-minute walk from the wharf. If driving, turn at the second street on your left in Bundeena. Please note that the picnic grounds are a part of the Royal National Park. To avoid paying a park entry fee, you will need to park your car outside the gate to Bonnie Vale and walk to the water (about 100 metres).

What to bring:

Please wear a wetsuit or thermals, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, towel, water bottle and change of clothes, lunch/snacks, and a pen and paper.

Strictly no refunds for non-attendance as the organisation of catering and kayak provision is included in the course cost.

Bundeena Kayaks operates 7 days a week from September to June but may cancel the activities due to unfavourable weather forecasts or other unexpected circumstances. They endeavour to post any notices of closure on the page https://www.bundeenakayaks.com.au/opening-times/ by 7am on day of cancellation, so please be sure to check before making the trip to Bundeena.

About the Tutor:

“I have owned and operated a kayaking and paddleboarding business since 2000 and am an experienced and qualified guide and instructor. I enjoy paddling recreationally and have competed at an international level in Dragon Boat racing events. Having spent thousands of hours exploring the Port Hacking Waterway and Royal National Park, I have accumulated a wealth of knowledge about the area and the wildlife that call the water and bushland home.” Bruce
