Looking for a creative, hands-on activity your young Masterchef will love? This is the workshop parents have been waiting for! Join talented baker Tania Penny from Penny Lane Bakery for a delightful cupcake decorating session tailored just for kids.
In this fun and interactive class, children will discover the joy of decorating cupcakes using buttercream and fondant. They will learn to pipe like a pro and design charming fondant toppers to bring their sweet creations to life—all of which they will take home to enjoy (or share, if they can resist!).

This beginner-friendly course is perfect for primary-aged kids. Parents are welcome to relax in the cafe during the class, but to let creativity flourish, the workshop space is for children only. Spaces are limited, so book your little decorator in today!
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the workshop, children will have fun decorating cupcakes using basic buttercream piping and basic fondant modelling techniques, demonstrating creativity, fine motor skills, and an understanding of basic design principles in edible art.

'Tania Penny is the creative force behind Penny Lane Bakery, a local business in the Shire known for its stunning cakes, cookies, and sweet treats. Her baking journey began in her teenage years, experimenting with chocolate tempering and crafting Easter eggs. Over the decades, she has refined her skills, evolving into a skilled artisan who blends visual artistry with delicious flavour.
Tania’s philosophy is “practice, practice, practice”, which reflects her belief in persistence and joy in the kitchen. When challenges arise, she embraces them with a deep breath, a little dance, and unwavering determination.
Beyond baking, Tania shares her expertise through hands-on classes, where she teaches cake and cupcake decorating workshops. Her engaging approach and emphasis on creativity make her classes popular with both beginners and enthusiasts. Whether crafting a whimsical birthday cake or teaching piping techniques, Tania brings warmth, skill, and a touch of sparkle to everything she does.'
Other Information:
To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled before the commencement and you will be informed.

West side of Jannali, closest cross street is Louise Street. There is free onsite parking available and ample on road parking (not metered) if the car park is full.
Public Transport
From Jannali Station walk to the West side along Jannali railway (heading towards Sutherland), the fourth street on the right is Louise Street. Jannali Centre is at the end of Louise Street

Accessible toilet and ground floor wheelchair access available Monday – Friday 9:00am-5:00pm, see Reception for directions to room. After hours and weekends look for the Customer Service Representative for room directions. Onsite Cafe open Monday to Friday 8:00am-3:00pm, Sat 8:30am – 1:30pm. Outside these hours there are drink/snack vending machines onsite.
