Enriching Lives for 40 Years
With an immense sense of the rapid passage of time and with great gratitude to my colleagues and supporters, it gives me the utmost pleasure to launch the 40th Year of St George & Sutherland Community College (SGSCC), to our wonderful community.
Unbelievably it has been 40 years since we ran the first class out of one classroom in Caringbah High School. Commencing with evening courses for people with a Disability the program quickly grew.
We expanded the disability programs and also commenced vocational and leisure classes. That expansion saw us quickly offering a multitude of courses at Engadine High and Port Hacking High Evening Colleges.
In the late 80’s we were invited to take over the running of St George College, and began to offer more vocational courses to businesses in the area. At this point the college was ‘humming’. Without a satisfactory day time facility opportunities were somewhat stymied. However. In 1992 this changed when we were able to negotiate the occupancy of the vacant Jannali Girls High School. We began delivering in Term 1, 1993 and do so to this day.
These premises and the enthusiasm of the team at this time saw the Community College expand its program to include Leisure, School Aged Tutoring, Vocational Training and English schooling as well as the very much established Disability program.
Fast forward to today. We now provide courses to thousands of students in Disability (as an official NDIS Provider), English, Leisure, School Age Tutoring and Vocational Training, both to domestic and overseas students.
One thing that has remained constant throughout this journey is that entrepreneurship was balanced with heart and our vision has always been to enrich lives! We aim to do this for another 40 years!
I hope you will join us to celebrate in 2019, as we have planned a series of events and promotions for you.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can in 2019 as we celebrate this milestone for SGSCC together.
