TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set

The Assessor Skill Set is designed for individuals who are, or intend to become, qualified assessors within the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. Whether you're new to assessment or formalising existing experience, this course equips you with the knowledge and confidence to assess learner competency in a professional, fair, and compliant manner. 

Through this program, you will:

  • Develop the ability to plan and conduct assessments
  • Understand how to make valid and reliable assessment judgements
  • Participate in validation activities that support assessment quality
  • Align all assessment activity with nationally recognised training products and VET system standards

This skill set prepares you to assess learners independently in accordance with the Standards for RTOs 2025

Units of Competency (UoC)

This skill set includes the following nationally recognised units: 

  • TAEASS412 – Assess competence
  • TAEASS413 – Participate in assessment validation
  • TAEDES411 – Use nationally recognised training products to meet vocational training needs

A Statement of Attainment will be issued on successful completion of all units.

This skill set meets the minimum education requirements for assessors operating independently and without supervision under applicable VET legislation, frameworks, and the Standards for RTOs
