Welcome to our Sport & Fitness Program, where fitness meets fun in an environment that’s all about building skills, confidence, and friendships! Whether you’re eager to improve your fitness or want to try new sports like the fast-growing pickleball, this program has something for everyone. Each week, we’ll kick things off with exciting sports activities on the field or court, followed by a gym session that focuses on boosting strength, balance, and endurance.

Our goal is to help you stay active, feel proud, and have a great time while learning teamwork, communication, and decision-making skills. Plus, with friendly faces around, you’ll be making new friends along the way! From sports to fitness, we’ve got you covered in a safe, supportive space where you can feel comfortable being yourself and getting stronger, both physically and mentally. So grab your water bottle, wear your comfy clothes, and get ready to move, have fun, and feel amazing!

Course Outline:

Our inclusive sport & fitness program provides both physical and social benefits for those looking to improve their fitness levels and those who want to play sport but want to try different activities to build skills, and confidence to take the next step. Our sessions incorporate both a sporting and fitness element to ensure we build multiple skills - To do this, students will try a variety of sports including the newest fast growing sport ‘pickleball’ in various open fields and courts. They will then visit our onsite gym to complete a range of cardio and resistance style training. This will all be provided in a safe and supportive space, where people with intellectual disabilities can be active, improve their health & wellbeing, while making friends, to build confidence and feel proud.

What to bring:

All sport equipment is provided – Please Wear comfortable clothing, covered shoes and bring a water bottle. Please Note: Once a term, our team will travel by car for Golf, and this will incur a $11 out of pocket expense (50 balls p/p)

This program is for persons with an intellectual disability with a moderate level of fitness. Each course runs for 2 hours per week. Students will be given a short break to re-charge, between the sport and gym sessions.

About the Tutor:

With a lifelong passion for sports, Narelle has cultivated a deep understanding of physical activity, teamwork, and personal development. Throughout her childhood and continuing into adulthood, Narelle has engaged in a variety of sports, and her extensive experience includes both coaching and facilitating holiday programs for the K-6 age group, as well as supporting individuals within the disability sector.

Narelle’s approach to teaching sports and fitness is centred around fostering an environment that encourages sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth. She believes that sport and exercise are not only effective stress relievers but also valuable tools for enhancing decision-making skills, setting goals, and promoting self-confidence. Her classes are designed to be engaging and fun, with a focus on building camaraderie among students, helping them develop leadership qualities, and forming lasting friendships.

Through a supportive and inclusive teaching style, Narelle ensures that all students, regardless of ability, have the opportunity to thrive, strengthening both their physical skills and their emotional resilience. Her commitment to providing a positive and empowering experience makes her an inspiring instructor in the field of sports and fitness.
