Learn Greek Modern for Beginners - Part 1
Greek is considered a rather difficult language. That explains the expression it’s all Greek to me!. But once you take a closer look, you will see that you already speak some Greek – Have you ever thought that words like theatre, democracy, music, logic, energy, diagnosis, philosophy, strategy, hexagon, psychology and many more derived from the Greek language?
This Modern Greek language course is a Beginners course and no prior knowledge of the Greek language is required. You are going to learn the 24-letter alphabet and the basics of Greek grammar. It will teach you how to use Greek words and communicate in Greek with simple vocabulary and basic sentences. This Greek course will also cover reading, writing and correct spelling. Modern Greek for Beginners will also introduce you to greetings and introductions, numbers and time and how to describe various daily activities.
Whether you want to learn the Greek language for business, travel or just for fun you will learn the basics at this informal, practical course which is delivered in interactive workshops where active participation is strongly encouraged! So, join us at SGSCC and learn to speak Greek!
You must have completed Part 1 Beginners before you can enrol into Part 2 Beginners.
Course Outline:
- The Greek alphabet
- Greetings
- Introducing one self and exchange some personal basic information(names)
- Exchanging information about health,introducing someone to others and expressing thanks.
- Exchanging information about country and nationalities. Give a more detailed information about yourself and your family
- Counting and using numbers
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Read the Greek alphabet, recognise the sounds and be able to read and write basic sentences in Greek
- Extend your Greek vocabulary to enable communication of basic requests and responses to exchange basic greetings in Greek
- Introduce yourself and others and give information about your background
- Use the basics of Modern Greek grammar

Language Bundle:
- All language classes/levels are delivered as Part 1 and Part 2 across two terms. To maximise your chance of learning we recommend enrolling into both parts 1 and 2.
- If you book into Parts 1 and Part 2 you will automatically save $40.
- When enrolling in Part 1, Part 2 will automatically be selected at the checkout. You can untick Part 2 if you wish.
About the Tutor:

She has completed a bachelor’s degree in Greek and in English Language and Literature at the university of Ioannina. She returned to Australia in 2012 after living and teaching in Greece for many years.

- All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled before the commencement and you will be informed.
