Learn Arabic for Beginners - Part 2 - New!

If you want to learn the Arabic language for business, travel, or just for fun, you’re in the right place. Join us at SGSCC for this beginner language class and learn how to speak Arabic, taught by a native speaker, and also learn about the fascinating culture. Modern Standard Arabic is the common language used across the Arabic-speaking world, bridging the many dialects to different regions. Formal Arabic is the written form. The beginners course will teach you the basics of speaking, reading, listening, and writing. You will learn to communicate with simple vocabulary, how to use words and phrases and basic sentences, and gain an understanding of the culture in everyday life.

SGSCC Beginners Language courses are Entry Level, meaning no prior knowledge is required. These courses are geared to the potential tourist, businessperson, and those wishing to improve communication with friends or family who have a non-English speaking background.

Course Outline:

  • Being able to understand, speak, read and write Arabic based on a beginner level
  • It is designed to provide you with a good idea of what you might cover over 8 weeks, and include typical themes, grammar, and vocabulary fields.

Learning Outcome:

  • Learn about the history & culture of the Arab countries
  • Everyday polite language, everyday religious expressions
  • Arabic as a Standard language and Dialect
  • Learn the different form of greeting
  • Ask and respond to simple questions, such as name, nationality, wellbeing, etc
  • Say the numbers (for phone numbers, addresses, money, and age, etc)
  • Express your likes and dislikes, including food preferences
  • Understand basic grammar, including sentence structure, gender of nouns, past and present tense, singular and plural forms, etc.

Prerequisite:

  • You need to have completed Arabic for Beginners – Part 1 to enrol in this class or demonstrate your relevant ‘level’ through a conversation with the tutor prior to enrolling.

I have 4 years of experience teaching Arabic at Sydney Community College and St. George Sutherland Community College. In my class, I am enjoying engaging students in a dynamic and fun context, whilst encouraging participation by adapting my teaching style to the needs of the students. With a Bachelor of Education (Adult Education) and a Diploma in Education Support, I love to organise comprehensive lesson plans with the view to teaching students reading, writing, and speaking the Arabic language, and like to include culture, history, geography, and even the forbidden topics of politics and religion into classes. To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
All courses need a minimum number of students to run (“we try our hardest to get those”) . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled before the commencement and you will be informed.
