What you need to know about this course:
- Prior to enrolling you must read the Mental Health Pre Enrolment Policy at the bottom of this page
- Classes commence in week 1 of each school term
- Students will be accepted into the class throughout the term
- You will need to plan for approximately 5-10 hours per week at home to complete assessment tasks
- There is no training during school holidays
- Private Facebook groups are used to share resources and learning
- Resources are provided by SGSCC
- Student lounge available
- WiFi is available

Course entry requirements
- You must attend a pre-enrolment meeting with an SGSCC representative to ascertain suitability to the course and to review your current skills and experience
- Hold a current CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health
- New students are expected to attend a mandatory college orientation before course commencement. Orientation times and dates will be advised after enrolment
- Current National Police Check (can be arranged through SGSCC)
- Complete an SGSCC English language, literacy and numeracy assessment to determine that the student has sufficient skills to successfully complete the course
- Note-taking materials
- Unique Student Identifier (can be arranged through SGSCC)
- Recognition for units may be granted based on previous learning, studies, work and/or life experiences
Do you need to complete any work placement hours?
- Yes, you need to complete 160 hours (20 days) of work placement
- Before commencing work placement, you will be required to get a current national criminal record check to allow you to work in a care service facility. SGSCC will assist you with this application process.
Will you need to sit for any exams?
- No. This is a competency-based course
- Tell us, then show us you understand and are able to implement the learning you have received
- You will be required to competently complete assessment tasks for all 20 units of learning

To be deemed competent:
- You will receive clear assessment instructions
- You must complete all assessments to a satisfactory standard as set by your trainer
- These are assessed by your trainer
- Opportunities will be provided for trainers to support students and to resubmit their assessments if required

Delivery Overview:
- Duration: 8 term course
- Days: Monday and Tuesday 9am – 4.30pm
- Units of Learning: 20 (7 of these units completed in CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health)
- Requirements: Students must be working in the industry to enrol in this course as it requires workplace assessment to be conducted. 20 days of work placement.
