Chair Yoga - New! St George & Sutherland Community College

Chair Yoga - New!

Yoga without the up and down to the floor! Are you feeling stiff and creaky these days? Are you feeling a bit off balance? Are working with a body that has some physical limitations? Are you feeling stressed? Are you having trouble sleeping? Are you working with an injury or condition that limits your mobility or strength? This chair based class is the perfect gentle practice for everyone: those who are desk bound, travelling a lot, or for whom getting up and down from the floor is not convenient.

It makes yoga super accessible to all, including seniors and the less able-bodied, encouraging us to move and breathe in a gentle, mindful way, honouring our bodies no matter the physical challenges or limitations they may have. We will look at mobilising all major joints and muscle groups, strengthening, stretching and balance: sitting, standing and balancing (with chair support). Classes will include simple movements, adapted postures, breath awareness, meditation and relaxation.
