Welcome to “Create and Sip” – a relaxing and enjoyable way to unwind, socialize, and express your creativity. In this class, you can enjoy a warm drink while creating something beautiful and unique. No previous experience is required – this course is all about having fun and experimenting with different craft techniques to create pieces that bring you joy. Whether you’re looking to make something decorative, useful, or perfect for gifting, this class offers the perfect opportunity to explore your artistic side in a supportive environment.

Led by Janine Martin, who has years of experience in art and craft education, you’ll enjoy a friendly and inclusive atmosphere where everyone can feel comfortable experimenting and connecting with others. Get ready to discover what you’re capable of, meet new people, and make wonderful creations to take home!

+ Consumables Cost $48 to be paid to the tutor week 1.

The program is for persons with an intellectual disability. This course runs for 2 hours per week and is run from our Jannali site.

Course Outline:

Throughout the term, we’ll dive into a range of art and craft techniques, including:

  • Painting: Explore different styles and techniques
  • Mandala Making: Learn this intricate and meditative art form
  • Mosaic Creations: Create stunning patterns with tiles
  • Some projects can be completed in a single session, while others will develop over multiple weeks, allowing time to perfect each piece.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Experiment with diverse materials like paint, wood, fabric, and tiles
  • Build fine motor skills through activities like cutting, painting, and weaving
  • Learn new techniques, including mosaic-making
  • Boost creative confidence and celebrate self-expression

About the Tutor:

Janine Martin brings a wealth of experience and passion to her art and craft classes. With a background in business administration and special education, she has a deep commitment to creating inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environments. Since joining SGSCC seven years ago, Janine has been dedicated to teaching art and craft to adults, particularly those with disabilities.

Janine is known for her creative approach, always seeking out projects that align with her students' interests and abilities. Her classes go beyond crafting; they are designed to be social and fun, fostering an atmosphere where students can relax, socialize, and build friendships while creating something special.
