Tai Chi with Lyn - Beginners/Intermediate

Do you want to reduce stress and improve your overall wellbeing? Then join our beginners class to commence learning the slow gentle movements of Tai Chi. The continued repetition of these movements combined with deep breathing and meditation promotes energy flow throughout the body enhances mind-body coordination, develops strength, improves body posture, balance and flexibility.

This course will introduce you to the most popular Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan. Learn the basic principles of Tai Chi, how to empty and relax your mind, improves the coordination of the Upper and Lower Body, deep breathing method, creates better postures, and thus improving our balance.

The gentle movements of Tai Chi are easy to learn, however combining those movements into a contiguous flow that becomes the Tai Chi form requires regular practice, the perseverance to set and achieve small incremental goals, and a willingness to develop your self-knowledge.

Course Outline:

  • A set of standard warm-up exercises
  • Learn how to do Tai Chi Walking
  • Breaking down Tai Chi Movements for easy understanding
  • Learn Tai Chi postures, deep breathing, Ying and Yang
  • Introduce Basic Tai Chi Forms
  • Cooling down exercises

About the Tutor:

'I have a passion for Tai Chi and would love to share my knowledge and experiences with other like-minded people. I have taught at other adult learning institutes and enjoy sharing my knowledge of Tai Chi Chuan. I began my Tai Chi journey many decades ago and it has taken me to many interesting places and met many amazing people.

Tai Chi has taken me overseas to compete and study internationally in Hong Kong and Singapore. I competed in the 8th Singapore International Martial Arts Tournament in 2019 and the 16th Hong Kong Wushu International Championship in 2018. I also participate in the TCAA World Qigong Day each year and TCAA Competitions in Sydney.

I enjoy doing Traditional Yang form; Yang style 24 form, Yang style 18 form, Yang style 40 form, Combined 28 form (a combination of 4 styles) and several weapon forms including Tai Chi Sword and Tai Chi Fan.' Lyn

  • To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
  • All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled before the commencement and you will be informed.
