Welcome to Day Trippers! This dynamic 5-hour program is perfect for those who love to explore our city and beyond. Using our college van, participants will embark on exciting excursions to museums, historical sites, and unique attractions. Along the way, we’ll also enjoy a range of fun and engaging activities, including visits to national parks, beaches, and outdoor games. Whether you’re an avid explorer or someone who enjoys discovering new places, Day Trippers offers a supportive and inclusive environment to explore, socialize, and learn new skills.

Course Outline:

At Day Trippers, we believe that everyone should have a say in their adventures! Participants will actively contribute to planning the day’s activities to ensure that we cater to everyone’s interests. Some exciting activities may include:

  • Excursions to various attractions: Attending live shows, visiting art galleries, and touring fascinating locations.
  • Recreational activities: Enjoying bowling, bocce, and other client-favorite pastimes.
  • Nature explorations: Visiting national parks and beaches for fun picnics, BBQs, and outdoor games.
  • A supportive environment: Exploring attractions in a fun atmosphere where everyone is encouraged to share their ideas and suggestions.

Learning Outcomes:

By participating in the Day Trippers program, you will:

  • Comfortable walking shoes for all-day exploration.
  • Water bottle, hat, and sunscreen for outdoor activities.
  • Wet weather gear—just in case Mother Nature surprises us!
  • Morning tea and lunch to keep your energy up during our exciting outings.

About the Tutor:

Melanie Empson is a dedicated support worker at SGSCC, where she has passionately served for six years. Known for her kind and caring nature, Melanie excels in providing outdoor activities that foster engagement and enjoyment among her clients. She actively takes them on various adventures around the area, ensuring they have access to fun and enriching experiences.

Her adventurous spirit shines through in her work, as she is always seeking new ways to create memorable moments for those she supports. Prior to her role at SGSCC, Melanie volunteered at Kurnell Public School, further demonstrating her commitment to helping others and making a positive impact in her community.
