Restorative Yoga St George & Sutherland Community College

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is a passive, meditative form of yoga that focuses on the breath whilst letting go if tension and tightness. Great for everyone, especially those wanting to improve their flexibility and mobility!

Each week students will practice a series of eight to ten asanas traditionally held for anywhere between 2 to 5 minutes. Unlike some other yoga styles, restorative focuses on slow passive stretching that works on the deep tissue and facia, hydrating and lengthening, and ultimately creating a greater range of mobility and flexibility. It shifts the student into the parasympathetic nervous system, which is all about rest and digest. Not only does it provide incredible physical benefits, Restorative Yoga seeks to bring one’s whole being into alignment, balancing the physical, emotional, mental and energetic bodies. It is a practice that urges the student to let go of all that no longer serves and ultimately bring them back to the present where live can be truest lived!

It is her aim to bring the benefits of yoga to as many people as possible.

"Yoga is 30% on the mat and 70% off the mat. What we learn in class we will take into our everyday lives, Yoga helps one to live more authentically, with greater freedom and more happiness, what’s not to love!"
