Mixed Media Art: Incredible Inks & More - New!

Working with water-based inks & gouache paints to create interesting artworks. Learn simple and effective techniques to create effects with inks and combine inks with other mediums to create mixed media art works. This hands-on workshop is designed to be simple, mindful and relaxing in a fun, social setting. All levels of creative and artistic flair welcome. Course content:

For those of you who are Creative Non-Artist or feel you have loads of untapped creative potential, but are unsure where to start and also wanting to work on learning how to “switch off” and “unwind” through creative outlets. This introductory workshop is designed to be simple, mindful and relaxing in a fun, social setting.

Practical and experiential hands-on activity, creating your own creative personalised artwork using fun creative mixed media techniques.
You will also learn simple techniques to help reduce stress, increase wellbeing and enjoyment in everyday life.

No artistic experience required but if you have worked with inks you will still learn something new. Extension techniques possible.
All levels of creative and artistic flair welcome.
Great opportunity to create together, parent/guardian & child workshop.

Outcomes:

The workshop will focus on connecting with your inner-creative self through some simple, mindfulness techniques such as, relaxation breathing, whilst creating simple, engaging creative art work on the day to take home.

  • Practice mindfulness and easy relaxation breathing techniques with guided visualisations and short meditations. Soft/relaxing music will be utilised in this session.
  • There will be focus on hands on creating with inks and other water based mediums (gouache and or acrylics) as well as group discussion and sharing as well as reflection time in the workshop session.

Materials:

Art media utilised may include: Inks, Gouache, Acrylic Paints & oil crayons, felt tip pen, art and watercolour paper & other mixed media materials.
Materials and art requirement will be provided on the day. All participants will be contacted by the Tutor prior to the workshop regarding any additional necessary materials.

Duration: 1x 4.5 hr hour workshop (participants will need to bring snacks and lunch with them (common room fridge and coffee/tea making facilities are available) and drinks on the day as there will be no food truck available. Vending machines are available on premises for snacks and cold drinks.

Participants will be contacted prior to class by Tutor.

About the Tutor:

Facilitated by an Artist/Art Therapy and Holistic Creative Arts Therapist.

Melissa (Mel) Martin is a local contemporary Artist, Holistic Creative Art Therapist and a Mindfulness practitioner, who is passionate about enabling one’s inner ability to create, through artistic expression, seeking to inspire and promote wellbeing through an artistic journey of healing and personal growth.

Mel facilitates local art classes/workshops in the community and privately, where she explores with small groups their true selves and the potential they have and the fear that is holding them back. By engaging in this therapy, Mel is able to reach into the lives of the people she can help more directly or build a personalised service for an individual or group looking for opportunities to learn how to relax, reduce stress, improve confidence, empathy/compassion, problem solving skills and workflow.
