Learn Mandarin for Beginners - Part 1

This course is an introduction to students who wish to gain a basic and general understanding of the Chinese language, including conversation skills and some Chinese culture.

SGSCC Beginners Language courses are Entry Level, meaning no prior knowledge is required. These courses are geared to the potential tourist, business person, and those wishing to improve communication with friends or family who have a non-English speaking background.

Course Outline:

What you will learn:

  • How to greet people and introduce yourself to a group
  • A basic understanding of Chinese culture and lifestyle
  • How to pronounce Chinese, Pinyin, and Tones
  • Numbers, money, days of the week, food and drink, families, things to do, etc
  • General phrases and grammar techniques as a strong basis for further learning

Materials:

  • You will need to purchase Getting started in Mandarin Chinese ISBN 978-1-444-17480-9 beginners book
  • Bring pen and paper.

Language Bundle:

  • All language classes/levels are delivered as Part 1 and Part 2 across two terms. To maximise your chance of learning we recommend enrolling into both parts 1 and 2.
  • If you book into Parts 1 and Part 2 you will automatically save $40.
  • When enrolling in Part 1, Part 2 will automatically be selected at the checkout. You can untick Part 2 if you wish.

  • All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled before the commencement and you will be informed.
