From Page to Picture, Inkwork and Fantasy Illustration

Join professional illustrator Madi Martin in this one-day workshop exploring the skills and tricks behind fantasy inkwork. Embark on a fun and interactive class where we learn how to create immersive worlds and characters; and develop key techniques to bring magical scenes to life! Students will combine sketching and rendering techniques with the black lines of pigment ink, using a range of methods to create value, texture, and depth in dynamic artworks!

We will introduce techniques that open up other areas of creative practice, such as figure in the stone and one point perspective, and combine ink with watercolour paints and other mediums to design stunning, mixed media artworks. Learn how to illustrate your own stories, and explore those that came before you like Where the Wild Things Are, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and The Nightmare Before Christmas – use industry techniques from comic books and tattoo design, and bring your imagination to life!
