Bold & Playful Acrylics: Colour, Collage and Creativity - New! St George & Sutherland Community College

Bold & Playful Acrylics: Colour, Collage and Creativity - New!

Ready to have some fun with paint? This lively course is for beginners and improvers who want to try something a little different and let their creativity loose. Over four Wednesday evenings, you will explore the bold, expressive side of acrylics using simple materials, with no experience needed and no right or wrong answers.

In week one you will create a colourful abstract painting using palette knives, learning how to spread, scrape and layer thick paint. In week two you will combine painting with collage, using torn paper and magazine pages to build up a rich, layered artwork. In week three you will turn a face into a vibrant pop-art or Fauvist-style portrait, inspired by Matisse and Warhol, using flat shapes and daring colour. In the final week you will paint a small series of three mini artworks that work together as a set, helping you find your own style.

Each session starts with a short demonstration, followed by plenty of time to paint while your tutor offers friendly, practical guidance. It is a relaxed, sociable and creative evening out, so come ready to play. You will take home your finished artworks and the confidence to keep experimenting.
