Acrylic Paint Pouring for Beginners - New!

This fascinating and popular painting technique known as acrylic paint pouring or sometimes called fluid art, is a highly addictive method used to produce abstract art. In this course you will learn how to mix your paints with a key ingredient to create the right consistency for pouring. Be guided step-by-step and be shown different techniques that produce different effects. You will come away with four canvas artworks. Two 20cm x 20cm practice pieces, one 30cm x 30cm practice piece and finally you will create your 60cm x 60cm grand masterpiece. Please note sizes of canvases may vary due to stock availability. The magic of acrylic paint pouring is that the end result will always be unpredictable and unique. This is a great activity for beginners and for those who don’t believe they have an artistic bone in their body. Come alone or bring some friends for a great bonding session and discover your creative side, as you immerse yourself in a cloud of creativity. Light refreshments included.

The course will cover the following in 1 x 2 hour session:

  • What paint additives and pouring mediums can be mixed with acrylic paints
  • What basic supplies you need
  • Different pouring techniques
  • Creating attractive and complimenting colour palettes
  • What surfaces you can pour on besides canvases
  • How long should you wait before sealing your artwork
  • How and what to use to seal and protect your artwork

h4. Learning Outcomes:

  • At the end of this course, participants will have a basic understanding of the fundamental principles of acrylic paint pouring and will be able to produce simple and unique abstract art on canvas

  • Plastic disposable drop sheet/table cover to protect your car seats or boot to take home wet artworks
  • Optional apron and don’t dress to impress as acrylic paint pouring can be messy

'Hello there! I’m Lily and I’m a qualified trainer and assessor, educator and mixed media artist. I discovered acrylic paint pouring a few years ago and my passion for this medium grew over time as I experimented and created unique one-of-a-kind abstract art. I love the surprise element of this medium and the fact that you never know what you will end up with. Additionally, I enjoy the therapeutic benefits of acrylic paint pouring and sharing my skills and knowledge and bringing some creative happiness to everyone.'

  • To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
  • All courses need a minimum number of students to run (“we try our hardest to get those”) . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled before the commencement and you will be informed.
