The FSK20119 Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways qualification is designed for learners who want to build the foundation skills needed to prepare for employment, further training, or a vocational pathway. 

This course focuses on developing:

  • Self-management, time management and learning strategies

There are no formal academic entry requirements for this qualification. 
Students must be formally signed out of school to attend this program.

Do you need to do any work placement hours?

No. 
This course does not require mandatory work placement hours. 

Will you need to sit any exams?

No formal exams are required. 
Assessment is competency based and completed progressively throughout the course.

  • FSKLRG018 – Develop a plan to organise routine workplace tasks
  • FSKNUM014 – Calculate with whole numbers and familiar fractions, decimals and percentages for work
  • FSKNUM015 – Estimate, measure and calculate with routine metric measurements for work
  • FSKNUM017 – Use familiar and routine maps and plans for work
  • FSKOCM007 – Interact effectively with others at work
  • FSKRDG010 – Read and respond to routine workplace information
  • FSKWTG009 – Write routine workplace texts

To be deemed competent:

To be deemed competent, learners must: 

  • Successfully complete all required assessment tasks
  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge against each unit’s performance criteria
  • Show consistent participation and progress throughout the course

When you have completed and been deemed competent you can:

After completing this qualification, you may: 

  • Move into employment or volunteering
  • Enrol in further vocational training (Certificate II or III)
  • Enter traineeships or pathway programs
  • Build confidence and independence for work and life

Course fees:

Course fees vary depending on eligibility for government-funded training. 
Subsidised training may be available under Smart and Skilled

Delivery Overview:

  • Duration: Delivered across the school year, aligned to school terms.
  • Delivery mode: Face-to-face classroom delivery, Practical hands on activities.   
  • Days:  Delivery days are scheduled weekly, and will be advised prior to commencement. Mandatory attendance is for 3 days per week.
  • Units of learning: 14
  • Requirements:  Regular attendance, active participation and completion of assessment tasks.
  • Monthly Intake:  Yes, subject to availability.
