STEP - Literacy, Basic

The term literacy is not restricted to just reading and writing but may include social and cultural literacy or learning based on everyday living such as time, numeracy and language skills. Classes have a consistent structure and each term is based around a theme or topic. Students work as a class, as individuals and also in groups. STEP - Computer

Covers the basics for beginners and challenges those with more experience. Improve your typing speed and accuracy using an interactive program. Keep a tally of your progress and see your improvement. Practice making flyers, cards, calendars and other creative projects by inserting pictures, colour, fonts and borders. Create basic documents, format them using options on the toolbar. STEP - Art and Craft

Create a project to take home each week or work on something a little more involved. Affordable, yet useful and decorative objects will be made and will be completed by hand or by using only simple tools. Projects are suitable for all levels from beginners to the more experienced. STEP - Performing Arts

Performing arts is a creative form of artistic expression. Arts, such as dance, drama, and music are explored in this course through solo or group performances in a supportive group environment. STEP - Social Club

Come along and help plan a variety of activities in which to participate with friends and form new friendships. Each term we aim to complete at least one new activity while keeping some of our favorites from previous terms. Activities include gardening, bingo (with prizes), coffee shop and walk, movie or Wii, sport and games, and theme related days depending on the time of year (Christmas cards, fancy hat for Melbourne Cup, etc). + Consumables Cost $10 to be paid to tutor week 1.... The purpose of this course is to get together with others to learn new and exciting things and to have fun participating in activities that will expand your knowledge. STEP - Cooking

Learn to cook healthy meals, with guidance, the participants will discuss and decide on the recipe selection for the term. The main focus is to learn to prepare deliciously healthy meals including main meals, lunches and snacks. You will chop, grate, mix and mash, working in a fun and supportive environment to cook up a storm. You will learn some useful cooking tips a well as some information about kitchen safety. STEP - Sports and Fitness

Set yourself a fitness goal in the first session and measure your current level of fitness. All progress during the term will be recorded in a training booklet to track your progression towards achieving your personal goals. Some fitness sessions will include using equipment in our SGSCC gym and other sessions will be sports, games or bootcamp type exercise in the open spaces. STEP - Sewing

Using a needle and thread, hand-sew a project of your own. Select fabrics, ribbons or laces to decorate your project using embroidery, sequinning, quilting or applique. Create something beautiful for yourself or make a gift for someone special. Sewing requires you to focus, both physically and mentally on the task and helps to develops hand-eye coordination.
