Preserves & Pickles

Learn how to produce your very own Preserves and Pickles. In this hands-on class, you will learn the different techniques used to preserve seasonal fruit and vegetables and the history behind them. Turn your preserves into the perfect gift or just enjoy eating them all year round!

What to bring:

  • 2 × 250ml preserving glass jars
  • 3 × 150ml preserving glass jars
  • 2 Tea Towels
  • Apron

Sample menu:

  • Drying – Oven-dried tomatoes, Herbs, Fruit chips
  • Sugaring – Tomato chilli jam, Stone fruit compote, Berry jam and Candied chillies
  • Fermentation – Yoghurt, Kimchi
  • Salting – Preserved Lemons
  • Pickling – Pickled carrots, chillies and Antipasto Vegetable

Safety First:

Please ensure you wear closed in shoes, long pants and ensure long hair is tied back.

About the Tutor:

  • To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
  • All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled prior to the commencement and you will be informed.
