Motor Cycle Maintenance
A basic ‘hands on’ course, to introduce the non-mechanic to the basics of maintaining your motorcycle. No previous experience is needed. What to check for, how to fix or adjust the common components. Gain the knowledge to decide if it is a repair that can be taken on yourself, or should be left to the professionals. BYO motorcycle. Enclosed footwear is essential. Overalls or old clothes recommended as you may get a little dirty. Enter via the right driveway and head down to the rear carpark.
Course Outline:
The course covers all the things you can do yourself with a basic set of tools:
- Oil change
- Oil filter change
- Air filter change
- Brake pad change
- Brake fluid change
- Radiator flushing
- Headlight, taillight, indicator bulb replacement
- Where your fuses are and how to determine their state
- Chain tensioning
- Chain lubrication
- Chain cleaning
- Intervals of doing all of the above
- How to determine the general state of your bike
- Tyre wear and how to decide when it’s time to get a new set
- Tyre repairs whilst you are out riding
- Electrics basics
- And much more.
What to bring:
Please bring your motorcycle. Enclosed footwear is essential. Overalls or old clothes recommended as you may get a little dirty. Enter the Jannali Centre via the right driveway and head down to the rear carpark. Lunch can be bought nearby (by car) or please BYO.
Other Information:
- To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
- All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled before the commencement and you will be informed.
