Welcome to our “Learn to Knit” session! In this two-hour introductory course, you’ll discover the joy and creativity of knitting. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refresh your skills, this hands-on workshop will guide you through the basics of knitting.

You will learn essential techniques, understand different types of yarn and needles, and start your very first project. Join us for a fun, relaxing experience that will spark your passion for this timeless craft and set you on the path to creating beautiful handmade items.

Course Outline:

  • Introduction to knitting tools and materials
  • Basic stitches: casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch
  • Reading simple patterns and understanding knitting terminology
  • Starting a small project (e.g., a coaster or dishcloth)

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the fundamentals of knitting, including tools and basic techniques
  • Perform basic stitches: cast on, knit, purl, and cast off
  • Read and follow a simple knitting pattern
  • Identify and correct common knitting mistakes

What to bring:

  • 1 pair of straight knitting needles (4mm OR 5mm recommended)
  • 1 ball of medium-weight yarn (DK/8ply OR worsted weight, light-colored)
  • Scissors
  • Notebook and pen for taking notes
