Interior Design & Decorating - Intermediate

Bring your ideas and creativity to life and learn how to generate and translate inspiration from different sources to create the perfect solution for your interior space. Gain a thorough understanding of colour, contrast, balance and scale and learn to observe and evaluate different options and styles and how to create an inspiring sustainable environment in your own space. Find out how to successfully set up a simple display and vignette to complete your room.

Course Outline:

Week 1 Colour and style
Week 2 Colour experiments
Week 3 Painted finishes
Week 4 Storage
Week 5 Decorating with fabric
Week 6 Mixing styles
Week 7 & 8 Sample Board

Course Outcome:

You will be able to draw simple floor plans to chose and apply colour to camouflage or highlight certain areas. Work and decorate with texture and fabric and you will be able to establish your own style and be confident enough completely change a room. You will learn how to translate your ideas and how to put together a mood and sample board.

Materials:

Cost of materials approximately $20.

What to bring:

  • A photograph of one of the rooms in your house and also a photograph of the furniture inside that room.
  • Please bring a pen and paper.

About the Tutor:

'Ingrid has been working in Interior Design for more than 20 years and have been teaching Design and Décor for the same. Frequently I hold workshops about different Interior topics, like colour using everyday items for decoration, finding your very own style and many more. I have been working with builders, Real estate agents, developers and people from different walks of life. I am very passionate about colour, have travelled the world extensively and gained insight into the living style of many different cultures and countries. I love creating beautiful spaces for people to escape to and share my knowledge and experience with my students by paying attention to detail and the love of creating good interior vibes, I can help clients and students realise the dream of coming home to a place which is tailor-made to their requirements; a place to relax and feel safe.'

  • To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
  • All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled prior to the commencement and you will be informed.
