In this after school drama program, we will cover confidence building, improvisation, a range of theatre games and we will workshop various scripts. This is open to any school aged young person and will provide a fun, inclusive and supportive environment to learn more about the wonderful world of drama. Activities will be tailored around individual’s strengths, abilities and needs. We will start lessons with warm up games, move on to improvisation activities and spend each week looking at different scripts/poems/monologues/etc. Students will be encouraged to bring in any suggestions of scripts they would like to explore in class. All experience and confidence levels are welcomed.

Course Outline:

• Participate in warm up games covering: confidence building, memory, coordination, teamwork.
• Develop Improvisation techniques through activities, games and role plays.
• Be supported to develop self-devised group work
• Develop skills and techniques of voice and movement to create character, mood and atmosphere.
• Workshop a variety of scripts using different motives, styles and emotions.
• At the end of the eight weeks students get the opportunity to present a dramatic piece using the elements of the course to their family/friends.

About the Tutor:

'Tash Doherty trained and worked as an actor for 10 years before making a career switch to Youth Work. She studied her Advanced Diploma of Stage and Screen Acting at the Academy Of Film, Theatre & Television, graduating in 2015. Tash has experience working in theatre, having performed at The New Theatre in Newtown and Arts Theatre in Cronulla. She has experience working in television, voiceover and the independent film industry. Tash worked as a drama teacher in the St George area for three years, providing weekly group drama classes to both children and teenagers/young adults. Tash has spent her last two years training and working as a youth worker and is eager to combine both her skills to provide a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment for young people to explore the playful world of drama.'

• All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled before the commencement and you will be informed.
