Young Creatives Mixed Media: A Colourful Journey Workshop - Ages 9-15

Designed for those who love working with colour and using colour in general and enjoy imaginative play and creating. Colour has a wonderful way of allowing us to not only express ourselves in our day to day life but also enables us to be creative and inventive in so many different ways, from the way we dress to the way we decorate our living space, and the way we craft and create in art.

In this workshop you will gain an understanding of how using colour can work for you in your artistic creations and crafting projects. There are benefits of using colour in the art to positively stimulate and enhance the creative flow without the need for verbal expression. Practical and experiential hands-on activity, creating your own creative personalised canvas collage-artwork using fun creative mixed media techniques. A great way to experiment with techniques & different art media. No artistic skills or ability is required.

Content:

  • Journey into the world of colour expression and meaning through the use of creative Collage. Create freely and artistically without the hang-ups of having to be artistic and draw and paint.
  • In collage a variety of materials are used from paints, drawing, doodling, newspaper, magazines, books, photos, fabric cutouts, objects, bric-a-brac of all sorts, and creative materials galore.
  • Highly colourful, expressive, and creative fun and enjoyable, whilst also being very calming relaxing. No artistic skills or ability is required.

Duration:

1x 4-hour workshop (15-minute break included). BYO snacks/fruit and drinks on the day. Vending Machine is available on site to purchase snacks and drinks, bring money if allowed to purchase.

Material Costs per person: Included in the course fee;

All participants will be contacted by the Tutor before the workshop regarding any additional necessary materials.

Participants are welcome to bring their coloring-in pencils and markers, mixed media paint brushes. Magazine cut-outs, images, photos, memorabilia, embellishments, and bric-a-brac to decorate with. If unsure please contact the College and request the Tutor contact you to discuss.

About the tutor:

'Melissa (Mel) Martin is a contemporary artist, practices Art Therapy & Wellbeing sessions. Mel runs local art classes/workshops for kids, adults, and seniors through Learning and Community Centres, Gallery/Studios, as well as privately, where she explores with small groups their true creative selves and the potential they have and helps individuals shift into a creative space and feel confident about their artistic/creative flair and talents.'

  • All courses need a minimum number of students to run (“we try our hardest to get those”) . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled prior to the commencement and you will be informed.
