This practical workshop will teach the student effective strategies and develop their conceptual understanding in Whole Number, Operations, and Problem Solving for Stage 2.

Workshop Learning Intentions:

The student will learn how to…

  • use appropriate terminology to describe and link mathematical ideas, check statements for accuracy and explain their reasoning.
  • count order, read & record numbers of up to 5 digits
  • use informal and formal mental and written strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems
  • use informal written strategies for multiplication and division of two-digit numbers by one-digit numbers
  • students perform simple calculations with money and solve simple purchasing problems.
  • explore mathematical problems and develop mathematical fluency.
