Watercolour - Creative Works

Get creative and join us at SGSCC for this fun art class that is suitable for all levels! Compose your individual water colour painting based on your own photo or source of inspiration and create watercolour paintings with encouragement and tuition from Marion. Learn how to plan a new painting using composition tips and tricks and how to add layers of watercolour washes to create a glow. Learn lots of techniques to enhance your watercolour paintings. Complete beginners are recomended to start with "Watercolour with Marion"

Course Outline:

  • Discussion about your resource photo and why it is important to have a black & white version
  • Getting started with a thumbnail sketch
  • Discussion about composition and the importance of a focal point
  • Discussion about your colours
  • Value of working on paper

Learning Outcomes:

  • Increased understanding of watercolour techniques including wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, dry brush, colour removal
  • Increased understanding of how to create a focal point
  • Obtain confidence in colour mixing
  • Learn the value of a limited palette
  • Learn the value of quality watercolour paper and paint
  • Knowledge of how to critique your own painting

What to bring:

  • Image for painting in watercolour, 1 x black & white copy, 1 x colour copy
  • Your usual watercolour kit
  • Watercolour paper in what ever size suits your image
  • Watercolour paper for testing your colours and for thumbnail sketches

About the Tutor:

  • To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
  • All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled prior to the commencement and you will be informed.
