Water Reflections in Watercolour

Get creative at SGSCC and join us to create watercolour paintings. Your experienced tutor will show you how to paint water ripples and reflected trees or mountains in a landscape. All painting is guided with step by step instruction as well as the freedom to express your own creativity in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

Course Outline:

  • Introduction to watercolour techniques including creating tones, layering, wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry
  • How to create a landscape with ripples in water
  • How to create a landscape with reflected trees, bushes or mountains

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand wet-in-wet watercolour application
  • Understand wet-on-dry watercolour application
  • Obtain knowledge of types of lifting painting
  • Learn the value of quality watercolour paper and paint

What to bring:

  • Watercolour tubes: ultramarine blue, permanent rose & cadmium yellow (or bring what you have in blue, red, yellow), and burnt sienna. Optional extra tubes include: white gouache
  • Watercolour brushes: 2 medium round brushes with a good point, small liner brush, medium hake brush (or large water brush) and a flat brush
  • Watercolour paper: 4 sheets A4 Arches/Saunders 300 gsm rough watercolour paper and extra sheets for testing your tones
  • Extras: 2 boards larger than your paper, 2B or HB pencil, eraser, masking tape, watercolour palette, spray bottle, old towel for the table, tissues, 2 water containers. Marion is happy to answer any questions about these supplies 0411 665 443.
