Vegan Cooking - 2

Vegan food is becoming more and more popular and research is showing us that it’s good for the body and environment to cut down on meat consumption. This course will allow you to get an understanding on plant based food for some simple and delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner options. People are becoming more interested in the idea of even cutting out meat just once a week but don’t know where to start. This course will show you some ‘meat’ alternatives, what to use to ensure you have enough protein and carbs per meal with making it simple and easy for even the basic cook to master. If you have a recipe that you love and would love to learn the ‘vegan’ way of doing it – bring it along and work with the tutor to create a delicious plant based alternative.

Course Outline:

  • Learn how to cook simple and delicious vegan breakfast, lunch and dinners
  • Learn different types of plant based foods and ‘meat’ alternatives
  • Understand protein alternatives to ensure your still getting the right nutrition
  • Learn how to make different plant based cuisines from around the world

What you will make:

  • Tofu scramble on sourdough with avocado, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms
  • Sweet potato Buddha bowl
  • Cauliflower steaks with chimichurri & Lemony Kale salad

Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will learn how to make a vegan breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Learn what meat alternatives there are to substitute meat in everyday meals
  • Students will take home a worksheet with information on the food groups and how to get the nutrition from plant based protein, carbs, vegetables
  • Students will learn how to ‘veganize’ everyday meals in a simple and easy way.

What to bring:

  • Closed in shoes and an apron
  • Chopping board and sharp knife
  • A medium sized cooking bowl
  • 2 small containers
  • A tea towel
  • A favourite meat based recipe or recipes they would like advice on how to make plant based

Safety First:

Please ensure you wear closed in shoes, long pants and ensure long hair is tied back.

About the Tutor:

'Hanna has worked in hospitality for over 10 years and this is where she found her love of food and cooking. While not always working in kitchens she started her cooking journey on superyachts in Europe when she was asked to assist the Chef and then became the crew cook shortly after. Since then she has worked on superyachts in Sydney as a cook, created a vegan cookbook for a boot camp weight loss program, catered small events and worked with companies as a food stylist/ cook to create beautiful meals for online E books. Hanna believes that cooking can be simple and delicious if you use a little creativity. She loves cooking vegan food because of this aspect and has been working on numerous vegan recipes to convert even the biggest of meat eaters!'

  • To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
  • All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled prior to the commencement and you will be informed.
