Unicorn Cake

Build on your naked cake skills to make a frosted unicorn cake. Learn how to cut, stack, fill, frost and decorate a 4-tier cake. You will learn how to mould and decorate a unicorn horn, ears and eyes, also colour buttercream and pipe swirls and rosettes onto your cake. Such a versatile cake that can be the basis for so many occasions, not just a unicorn!

Learning Outcomes:

  • Cut, stack and frost a 4-tier cake
  • Colour buttercream & pipe swirls & rosettes
  • Colour and mould fondant

What to bring:

  • 2 high baked cakes (6-8 inches in diameter) to cut in half each
  • white fondant (500g) (Coles brand is great)
  • 2 kg homemade or pre-made white/cream buttercream (can be purchased from Cake Decorating Solutions in Caringbah)
  • cake board (Coles have a twin pack)
  • sharp bread knife
  • foam brick to stand your unicorn horn and ears in to set
  • 1 large bowl
  • 3 x medium bowls
  • 1 x wooden spoon
  • 4 spoons
  • tea towel
  • Cleaning/anti-bacterial wipes
  • All other tools & utensils are supplied for use on the day

Please note this cake will need to travel home on your front passenger floor or seat. I have purchased a round hat/gift box from my local liquidator store that I use to transport my naked cakes, it costs $15 for the larger size but well worth the investment for peace of mind transport and future use.
