Time to Stretch St George & Sutherland Community College

Time to Stretch

Allow yourself some Time to Stretch to relieve stress, tension and anxiety. Muscles and joints weaken and range of motion reduces as we age. Besides making us feel good, stretching can relieve muscle tension and stress, increase your flexibility, circulation and improve your posture.

We begin with a slow, gentle warm up to increase body temperature and encourage circulation. Throughout the term, we’ll go through a series of passive stretching techniques targeting different areas of the body. Each participant is encouraged to work at their own pace and ability to improve balance, posture, flexibility and overall well-being.
Make some time for yourself to improve the harmony between your mind and body. Static stretching has been shown to activate your parasympathetic nervous system, which may result in a feeling of calmness and relaxation.

(Stretches can be modified to suit your needs and ability).
