This is a beautiful lace made by just using a shuttle and crochet cotton. Once you have mastered the two stitches there are many articles you can make. An ideal skill to learn if you intend to do a long trip or just enjoy learning a new skill. You can take this craft on to a plane as there are no sharp instruments needed. Use it to fill in those waiting times that sometimes happen.

All equipment will be provided. Shuttles will be available for $5 payable to tutor.

About the Tutor:

"I came from a family that was always very interested in all crafts. I watched my mother, grandmother and aunts (one of whom was a professional dressmaker) making our clothes, knitting, crocheting embroidering and tatting and at a very early age was given a child’s sewing machine to make simple garments for my dolls. I did sewing at school and after went to any course I could find to further my skills including a tailoring course.

I have been dressmaking professionally for about 40 years. Nearly all this time I specialized in weddings. About 28 years ago I joined a group that ran classes in a variety of interests and I taught at first my crafts and later dressmaking. This was my first opportunity to test my teaching skills and found I loved it. About 26 years ago I was asked to join the SGSCC teaching tatting at first then gradually the other crafts I was proficient in. (Knitting,Crochet, Embroidery, etc)

A couple of years later the opportunity occurred for me to teach Dressmaking then Pattern Making. I love teaching and seeing my students gaining confidence in the making of things, wearing their creations and, with their pattern making skills, to create their own designs. My students often remark that they learn so much information that is never found in books or the internet.

I enjoy meeting people of all ages and my aim is for the students to learn these skills so they too can enjoy creating things with their own hands." Jan
