TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector.

The TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is the minimum qualification required to work as a trainer/assessor in a structured training environment such as TAFE or a Private RTO. It is also suitable for individuals who provide on-the-job instruction in a workplace environment, (i.e. delivering one-on-one training to apprentices or coaching and mentoring other staff). Successful participants will also be qualified to conduct workplace assessments and skill audits.

What you need to know about this course:

  • Students can enrol at the beginning of each cluster

Cluster 1 – Learning Design
Cluster 2 – Learning Delivery
Cluster 3 – Assessment

  • 9 month course duration
  • Classroom based delivery (face to face)
  • Located at Jannali campus
  • Saturday classes 9.30am – 4pm
  • There are no training sessions during school holidays
  • Private Facebook groups are used to share resources and learning
  • Resources are provided by SGSCC

  2. TAEDES402 Use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs
  3. TAEDEL301 Provide work skill instruction
  4. TAEDEL401 Plan, organise and deliver group-based learning
  5. TAEDEL402 Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace
  6. TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills
  7. TAEASS401 Plan assessment activities and processes
  8. TAEASS402 Assess competence
  9. TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools
  10. TAEASS403 Participate in assessment validation

Course entry requirements:

  • Those entering this program must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed training and assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification. You will need to provide proof of your vocational competency on enrolment, e.g. a copy of your qualification and transcript.
  • Access to a computer, internet, and Facebook account
  • Effective language, literacy and numeracy skills to plan, research and write a range of documentation and present information

Do you need to complete any work placement hours?

  • No, this course offers a simulated learning environment with SGSCC

Will you need to sit for any exams?

  • No. This is a competency-based course
  • Tell us, then show us you understand and are able to implement the learning you have received
  • You will be required to competently complete assessment tasks for all units of learning

Assessments are made up by a range of:

  • Case studies
  • Demonstration
  • Presentation
  • Questions & answers

To be deemed competent:

  • You will receive clear assessment instructions
  • You must complete all assessments to a satisfactory standard as set by your trainer
  • These are assessed by your trainer
  • Opportunities will be provided for trainers to support students and to resubmit their assessments if required

New credential requirements for TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment:

Trainers and assessors who possess the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification have until 1st April 2019 to meet the new credential requirements.

In addition to holding the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, you will need to hold either one of the following:

  • TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills
  • TAELLN401A Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills

Plus one of the following:

  • TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools
  • TAEASS502A Design and develop assessment tools
  • TAEASS502B Design and develop assessment tools

On completion of the above units you will receive a Statement of Attainment outlining those units you have successfully completed.

This is what you need to do:

  1. Provide your TAE40110 certificate and transcript
  2. Provide your transcript for, or complete, each of the following:
  • TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills
  • TAEASS401 Plan assessment activities and processes
  • TAEASS403 Participate in assessment validation
  • TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools
3. Provide your transcript for, or complete, one of the TAE40116 elective units

  • $4,000 (fee for those who are ineligible for Smart & Skilled)
