Self-Portrait in Mixed Media

This is a 6 hours class, where Valerie will guide you through a step by step lesson. You will be explained how to draft your work and how to slowly build it up with texture/ colours and different medias
(material). This class will be completed with an easy listening music background). We will start with your portrait and envolve through representing what you like, who you are, your dreams etc… translated with magazines and fabric samples, use of specific colous etc… You are more then welcome to use the photos of a loved one (as their portrait) and create a portrait as a gift. Start collecting now, things that inspires / represent you to use into your future masterpiece! Valerie will supply some extra mixed media material to discover technics on how to give a texture to your artwork.

What to bring:

  • A set of primary colour acrylics
  • Led pencil/rubber/sharpner/drawing paper
  • Different size and shape brushes
  • One canvas (size of your choice)
  • A mirror to look at yourself
  • A rag and wear old cloths/shoes
  • If you want a specific image that represents you (for example; you are a bird lover, start to collect bird photos/colour/images/fabrics with bird prints/feathers etc.)

About the tutor:

'Valerie is an experienced artist, she has participated in few local art shows/exhibitions and made commisioned works. She has a background of art textiles in France and a degree in visual art. She has taught art to adults and children in groups and private lessons. She is deditcated to painting and loves to share her passion Make a space on your walls at home for your very own masterpiece!'

Other Information:

  • To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
  • All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled prior to the commencement and you will be informed.
