Regenerative Yoga - Beginners to Intermediate

Join us at SGSCC for this fun and relaxing beginner to intermediate yoga class! So come along for this yoga practice and maintain strength and wellbeing; physically and mentally. Building a sound body and mind helps attain inner peace and happiness. This 1.5 hour Hatha Yoga style class includes asanas (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing exercises) and a deep relaxation practice called Yoga Nidra. There is strong emphasis on specific breathing techniques to utilise while performing yoga asanas and energising the body’s chakras (energy centre) such as heart chakra, eye chakra or crown chakra in meditation, assisting the body’s nervous and endocrine systems.

Week one introduces the concept of “sankalpa” (setting an intention for your future wellbeing) and a 30-minute discussion to on a variety of yogic restorative and cleansing practices that are recommended for home practice.

What to bring:

  • Yoga mat
  • Towel and/or blanket.

Additional Information:

A sound yoga regimen involves intake of nutritious food, however it is recommended not to eat two hours prior to class. Please ensure you arrive at the class well hydrated.
All pregnant students should inform their teacher before commencing class.

About the Tutor: "Hello, I’m Christine Henriksen. I’ve been helping people maintain their health and well-being for a very long time, especially in the Sutherland Shire. It’s my passion to help people improve their health and wellbeing and I love the community aspect of St George & Sutherland Shire Community College. As well as having over ten year’s clinical experience in remedial massage therapy I also have qualifications and a great deal of experience as a personal trainer and yoga teacher. My qualifications include Cert. IV Fitness Trainer, Remedial Massage Therapy, Diploma, Yoga Teacher Certificate (Satyananda), Kathmandu, Nepal."

  • To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
  • All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled prior to the commencement and you will be informed.
