In this unique 4 x hour pop up class, you will get to know your camera, from mastering its controls, to knowing how to adjust shutter speeds, and depth of field which are the cornerstone of taking brilliant memorable photos, this pop up class has been especially written to give participants, an in depth opportunity to really learn and master their camera and its controls, and also learn about the fundamental principals of photography.

You will learn; to Understand the menus, Focusing Set up, Getting to know the control dials on your camera, Different camera modes; Program, Manual, Aperture and Shutter speeds. You will also learn how to take a photograph properly; To focus and recompose, Use composition to take a photograph properly, Apertures – Depth of Field explained, Shutter speeds – speed of shutter opening and closing explained, How to use your built in flash properly, Playing back your photograph(s) and one to one individual help with your camera. You will learn in a relaxed but informative manner from a Professional Photography Tutor, with over 44 years Photography and of camera experience.

Any adjustable digital camera; i.e. Compact / Bridge / DSLR / 4/3RDS / Mirrorless camera

  • RAW / JPEG image capability
  • adjustable ISO / film speed settings
  • with adjustable exposure settings; shutter, aperture and manual exposure i.e. S or TV, A or AV and M,
  • with manual / auto focus capability
  • also if your camera has adjustable picture control / picture style settings i.e. monochrome standard, neutral etc

Any lenses you have for your camera;
Wide to telephoto lens(es) / zoom(s) and or standard lens(es) with or without manual / auto focus

  • Batterie(s) charged and ready x 2 if you have them
  • Memory card(s) x 2 are preferable

Please note; Make sure you have fully charged your batterie(s) even if they are at half or one third, as your camera will be ON for the most of this class

Additional items:

  • Money for coffee / brunch / lunch /drinks
  • Own food / snacks and water
  • Note pad and pen
  • Bug repellent

What to wear:

Depending on the weather – additional weather / clothing items as follows;

  • Cooler / wet; a warm / waterproof jacket clothing / umbrella
  • Warmer; hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and comfortable clothing
  • Closed in footwear for your safety, acceptable; closed walking / running shoes / hiking boots with rubber soles (NO thongs / sandals / high heels etc)


This pop up class will run regardless of the weather, to give participants an opportunity to photograph in fine or wet weather

Special notes: Please note; General photography is permitted, but; (closeup photos of families / adults and especially identifying children under 18 years old, should not be taken or be published, unless a model waiver has been signed).

Location: Oatley Town Centre

Time and where to meet: Meet the Tutor at 10 am in front of Poveli Deli Cafe 15 Frederick St, Oatley to buy our own tea / coffee to do setting up, then go out in Oatley Town Centre for the rest of the day.

About the Tutor:

"My name is Neoklis Bloukos, and I have had a passion for Photography since I was 14 years old, with over 44 years of experience in Photography and camera equipment, over 25 years of experience as a Press Photographer, and over 15 years of experience of Digital Post Processing.

I am now a Professional Photography Tutor, teaching Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced Photography Courses, One Day Classes and bespoke Photography Field Trips including; Landscape, Macro, Night, Action, and Black and White Photography at SGSCC.

I am passionate about Photography, I love to teach and share both classic and modern Photography techniques, and believe it is the most significant visual medium on this planet.
