Mindful May, Mindful Art - How to Creatively Unwind and Relax

Mindful May is the perfect time to learn how to use your creativity whilst practicing mindfulness to help shift from being in constant ‘urban chaos’ to serene inner calm and equilibrium. Techniques and tools to help you focus on being in the moment and allow free-flow creativity in the process helping you to relax and de-stress.

Course content:

  • Each session consists of structured creative-art activities designed to enable individuals to unplug, unwind and reconnect with their inner creative-selves.
  • Using simple fun artwork techniques, mixed media and simple relaxation and breathing exercises, and easy self-care tips.
  • Focus is on the process of creating joyful art, utilising mixed media and techniques; drawing, doodling, painting, collage, mandalas and creative journalling.

Art media materials included:

  • Coloured pencils
  • Watercolour pencils
  • Felt pens
  • Coloured markers
  • Pastels
  • Acrylic paints
  • Inks
  • Art paper and canvas.

No artistic experience required. No pre-requisite Introductory workshop attendance required.

All levels of creative and artistic flair welcome.

Participants may be required to bring additional materials as requested by tutor. You will be contacted by the Tutor prior to commencing.

About the tutor:

'Melissa (Mel) Martin is a contemporary artist, practicing Art Therapy and is a Champion of Change, who has taken her interests and professional training in People Management/Organisational Psychology, and Art Therapy to a new level of experiencing self- awareness. Mel runs local creative art classes/workshops through Learning and Community Centres as well as privately, where she explores with small groups their true selves and the potential they have and the fear that is holding them back. Offering a varied range of personalised Creative Art Services from Art Therapy and Mindfulness practices, exploring a range of mixed media art techniques and tools to facilitate imaginative fun and creative expression, which can facilitate team building opportunities, reduce stress, improve confidence, compassion, problem solving skills, workflow and life balance.'

Other Information:

  • To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
  • All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled prior to the commencement and you will be informed.
