Manage Your Time - Manage Your Life

The most valuable assets you have in life, is time and your health, and they are intrinsically intertwined. If you do not manage your time adequately, you end up failing to achieve your goals and the disappointment can wear you down. If you have too much on, or are unorganised, you get stressed and your health suffers. Time management is not just something you need to do at work. Time management is life management.

There are 3 key areas of time management to be addressed:

  • How realistic is your workload? Do you take on too much? Can you really achieve what you have committed to? Do you say “Yes” to too many things and throw yourself into overwhelm?
  • How much time do you waste? Do hours disappear scrolling on social media, watching TV, other unproductive activities? While you are doing this, are you thinking “I should be doing…..” and feeling guilty?
  • How efficient are your systems? Do you use check lists, or group tasks that are similar? Eg: When you go on holidays, do you use check lists, or just try to remember everything you need, each time you pack your bags or car, for the whole family? Only to arrive at your destination to find out you have left things behind?

With a better understanding of what motivates and energises you, the ability to say “No” and effective and efficient strategies you can achieve more in less time and still have energy left over.
