Kids Art: Eco-Conscious Mixed Media - Ages 9 -14

Designed for the younger ‘budding creatives’, this program focuses on having relaxing, social fun with art and crafting mixed media techniques in a small group environment that promotes creative expression and the love for the creative arts.


Learning to create with everyday items and to work with your environment from an artistic point of view. Using imagination and natural elements to create.
Hands-on experiential creative art techniques using a range of mixed media mediums, guaranteed to have the kids enjoying creative time as a means of relaxing without the need of technology/devices. Kids will also be learning ways to be more creatively resourceful through upcycling and repurposing urban materials in their creative art projects and encourage them to use their creativity more freely when at school and at home.

Art media utilised include: coloured pencils, watercolour pencils, felt pens, coloured markers, pastels, acrylic paints, inks, magazine image cut outs, fabric, embellishments, art paper, craft wood, board and canvas. Natural elements found in nature and also urban items from around the home.

Suitable for age 9-14. All levels of creative and artistic flair welcome.

Facilitated by an Art Therapist/Artist/Wellbeing Facilitator

Duration: 4 weeks x 2 hour course. Total 8 hours

About the Tutor:

'Melissa (Mel) Martin is a contemporary artist, practicing Art Therapy and is a Champion of Change, who has taken her interests and professional training in People Management/Organisational Psychology, and Art Therapy to a new level of experiencing self- awareness. Mel runs local creative art classes/workshops through Learning and Community Centres as well as privately, where she explores with small groups their true selves and the potential they have and the fear that is holding them back. Offering a varied range of personalised Creative Art Services from Art Therapy and Mindfulness practices, exploring a range of mixed media art techniques and tools to facilitate imaginative fun and creative expression, which can facilitate team building opportunities, reduce stress, improve confidence, compassion, problem solving skills, workflow and life balance.'

  • To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
  • All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled prior to the commencement and you will be informed.
