Diploma of Marketing and Communication

This qualification is for individuals who have a sound theoretical knowledge base in marketing and communication. You will learn to demonstrate a range of managerial skills to ensure functions are effectively conducted and to be responsible for the work of other staff members, leading teams within the organisation or business.

What you need to know about this course:

  • New students are expected to attend a mandatory college orientation before you start your course. Orientation times and dates will be advised after enrolment
  • Classes commence week 1 of each school term
  • Students will be accepted into class throughout each term
  • You will need to plan for approximately 10-12 hours per week at home to complete assessment tasks
  • There is no training during school holidays
  • Private Facebook groups are used to share resources and learning
  • Resources are provided by SGSCC
  • Student lounge available
  • WiFi is available

Course entry requirements:

  • You are required to complete the 5 core units of the following qualification:
  • BSB42415 Certificate IV in Marketing and Communication
  • Complete an SGSCC English language, literacy and numeracy assessment to determine that the student has sufficient skills to successfully complete the course
  • Access to computer/internet
  • Facebook account for private class communication and access to learning resources (assistance creating an account can be arranged through SGSCC)
  • Note taking materials
  • Unique Student Identifier (can be arranged through SGSCC)
  • Recognition for units may be granted based on previous learning, studies, work and/or life experiences

Do you need to complete any work placement hours?

  • No, this course offers a simulated learning environment with SGSCC

Will you need to sit for any exams?

  • No, this is a competency based course
  • Tell us then show us you understand and are able to implement the learning you have received
  • You are required to competently complete assessment tasks for all 12 units of learning

To be deemed competent:

  • You will receive clear assessment instructions
  • You must complete all assessments to a satisfactory standard, as set by your Trainer
  • These are assessed by your Trainer
  • Opportunities will be provided for Trainers to support students and to resubmit their assessments if required

When you have completed and been deemed competent you can:

  • Progress with SGSCC to the BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership and Management, BSB50215 Diploma of Business or BSB50618 Diploma of Human Resources Management

Course Fees and Payment Options:

  • $2,850 (maximum Smart and Skilled student fee)
  • $5,000 (fee for those who are ineligible for Smart and Skilled)
  • Pay in full or interest free monthly payment plan available
  • By cash, EFTPOS, Visa or MasterCard

Eligibility for Subsided Training under the Smart & Skilled Training Program:

This training is subsidised by the NSW Government under the Smart & Skilled Training Program. To be eligible you must be

  • an Australian Citizen/Perm Resident/NZ citizen/humanitarian visa holder
  • aged 15 years or older, and
  • live or work in New South Wales, and
  • no longer be at school or equivalent

Skilling for Recovery is a NSW Government initiative to deliver JobTrainer funding in NSW. It provides free certificate, diploma and short course training to eligible applicants. If you meet the Smart & Skilled Program eligibility above and one of the following you could complete this course fee free:

  • Unemployed (with or without a benefit); or
  • At risk of unemployment; or
  • 17-24 years old (employed or not)
