BSB50618 Diploma of Human Resources Management

This qualification is for individuals working in a variety of roles within the human resource sector, applying a range of managerial skills to ensure that human resources functions are effectively conducted in an organisation or business. With this qualification, you will learn to be responsible for the work of other staff members and to manage the recruitment selection and induction process, as well as lead and manage organisational change within the business.

What you need to know about this course

  • New students are expected to attend a mandatory college orientation before course commencement. Orientation times and dates will be advised after enrolment.
  • Classes commence week 1 of each school term
  • Students will be accepted into class throughout each term
  • You will need to plan for approximately 8-10 hours per week to complete assessment tasks at home
  • There is no training during school holidays
  • Private Facebook groups are used to share resources and learning
  • Resources are provided by SGSCC
  • Student lounge available
  • WiFi is available

Course entry requirements

  • There are no formal educational requirements for entry into this course
  • Complete an SGSCC English language, literacy and numeracy assessment to determine that the student has sufficient skills to complete the course
  • Access to computer/internet
  • Facebook account for private class communication and access to learning resources (assistance creating an account can be arranged through SGSCC)
  • Note-taking materials
  • Unique Student Identifier (can be arranged through SGSCC)
  • Recognition for units may be granted based on previous learning, studies, work and/or life experiences

Do you need to complete any work placement hours?

No, this course offers a simulated learning environment within SGSCC

Will you need to sit for any exams?

  • No, this is a competency-based course
  • Tell us and show us you understand and can implement the learning you have received
  • You are required to competently complete assessment tasks for all 9 units of learning

Assessments are made up of a range of:

  • Case studies
  • Demonstrations
  • Observations
  • Presentations
  • Questions & answers
  • Research reports

To be deemed competent:

  • You will receive clear assessment instructions
  • You must complete all assessments to a satisfactory standard, as set by your trainer
  • These are assessed by your trainer
  • Opportunities will be provided for Trainers to support students and to resubmit their assessments if required

When you have completed and been deemed competent you can:

  • Progress with SGSCC to the BSB50215 Diploma of Business, BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership and Management or BSB52415 Diploma of Marketing and Communication.

Eligibility for Subsided Training under the Smart & Skilled Training Program

This training is subsidised by the NSW Government under the Smart & Skilled Training Program. To be eligible you must be

  • an Australian Citizen/Perm Resident/NZ citizen/humanitarian visa holder
  • aged 15 years or older, and
  • live or work in New South Wales, and
  • no longer be at school or equivalent

Eligibility for “Skilling for Recovery” - Fee-Free nationally accredited training

Skilling for Recovery is a NSW Government initiative to deliver JobTrainer funding in NSW. It provides free certificate, diploma and short course training to eligible applicants. If you meet the Smart & Skilled Program eligibility above and one of the following you could complete this course fee-free:

  • Unemployed (with or without a benefit); or
  • At risk of unemployment; or
  • 17-24 years old (employed or not)
