Close-Up & Photography

In this extensive one day class, you will learn creative close-up and macro photography including set up, interpreting natural light, high key and low key light, framing, composition and negative space. Depth of field – shallow and deep focus methods. Lighting with flash; built-in, off camera and diffusing flash techniques.

Skill Level:

  • Anyone whom has a thorough working knowledge of their camera; aperture, shutter speeds, focusing and the basic principals of photography, or whom has done the following;
  • A Beginner’s Photography course or similar
  • A Basic DSLR / Digital Photography course or similar

Essential Materials:

  • A DSLR – digital single lens reflex camera / four thirds or mirrorless camera with adjustable ISO and aperture settings.
  • Lens(es) - Either a or a macro lens, or standard and or telephotos lens/zoom lens with manual focus.
  • Close up filter(s) and/or a set of close up tubes

Additional items:

  • Tripod
  • Off camera flash with cord and/or transmitter / diffuser
  • An extra battery and flash card, as you will be your using your camera, and reviewing your photographs frequently
  • Note pad and pen

Other Information:

  • To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
  • All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled prior to the commencement and you will be informed.
