What you need to know about this course:

  • New students are expected to attend a mandatory college orientation before course commencement. Orientation times and dates will be advised after enrolment.
  • Classes commence at the beginning of week 1 of each school term
  • Students will be accepted into the class throughout the term
  • You will need to plan for approximately 5-8 hours a week at home to complete assessment tasks
  • There is no training during school holidays
  • Private Facebook groups are used to share resources and learning
  • Resources are provided by SGSCC
  • Student lounge available
  • WiFi is available

  • A computer with internet access
  • Email access
  • Facebook account

Course entry requirements:

  • There are no formal educational requirements for entry into this course
  • Recognition for units may be granted based on previous learning, studies, work and/or life experiences
  • Complete an SGSCC English language, literacy and numeracy assessment to determine that the student has sufficient skills to complete the course
  • Access to computer/internet
  • Facebook account for private class communication and access to learning resources (assistance creating an account can be arranged through SGSCC)
  • Note-taking materials
  • Unique Student Identifier (can be arranged through SGSCC)

Do you need to complete any work placement hours?

  • No, this course offers a simulated learning environment with SGSCC.

Will you need to sit for any exams?

  • No. This is a competency-based course
  • Tell us then show us you understand and can implement the learning you have received
  • You will be required to competently complete assessment tasks for all 10 units of learning

Assessments are made up of a range of:

  • Case studies
  • Demonstration
  • Observation
  • Presentation
  • Questions & answers
  • Research report

To be deemed competent:

  • You will receive clear assessment instructions
  • You must complete all assessments to a satisfactory standard as set by your trainer
  • These are assessed by your trainer
  • Opportunities will be provided for trainers to support students and to resubmit their assessments if required

When you have completed and been deemed competent you can:

  • Progress with SGSCC to the BSB50215 Diploma of Business, or BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership and Management

Eligibility for Subsided Training under the Smart & Skilled Training Program

This training is subsidised by the NSW Government under the Smart & Skilled Training Program. To be eligible you must be

  • an Australian Citizen/Perm Resident/NZ citizen/humanitarian visa holder
  • aged 15 years or older, and
  • live or work in New South Wales, and
  • no longer be at school or equivalent

Eligibility for “Skilling for Recovery” - Fee-Free nationally accredited training

Skilling for Recovery is a NSW Government initiative to deliver JobTrainer funding in NSW. It provides free certificate, diploma and short course training to eligible applicants. If you meet the Smart & Skilled Program eligibility above and one of the following you could complete this course fee-free:

  • Unemployed (with or without a benefit); or
  • At risk of unemployment; or
  • 17-24 years old (employed or not)
