CHC22015 Certificate II in Community Services

This course will give you the knowledge and skills in a variety of community services settings, empowering you to choose a rewarding career path within the sector.

This is an introduction to the general field of community services and may also apply to workers who support workers in residential facilities and/or in community services.

This qualification includes:

  • Providing direct assistance to individuals or groups of individuals
  • Completing workplace tasks under direct supervision
  • Delivering person-centred services to individuals

What you need to know about this course:

  • Classes commence at the beginning of week 1 of each school term
  • Students will be accepted into the class throughout the term
  • You will need to plan for approximately 5-8 hours a week at home to complete assessment tasks
  • There is no training during school holidays
  • Private Facebook groups are used to share resources and learning
  • Resources are provided by SGSCC

What resources do you need to study from home?

  • A computer with internet access
  • Email access
  • Facebook account

Course entry requirements:

  • There are no formal educational requirements for entry into this course
  • Recognition for units may be granted based on previous learning, studies, work and/or life experiences

  1. CHCCOM001 Provide first point of contact
  2. CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services
  3. CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
  4. HLTWHS001 Participate in workplace health and safety
  5. BSBWOR202 Organise and complete daily work activities
  6. CHCECE004 Promote and provide healthy food and drinks
  7. HLTINF001 Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures
  8. FSKLRG11 Use routine strategies for work-related learning
  9. FSKOCM07 Interact effectively with others at work

Do you need to complete any work placement hours?

  • No, this course offers a simulated learning environment with SGSCC

Will you need to sit for any exams?

  • No. This is a competency-based course
  • Tell us, then show us you understand and are able to implement the learning you have received
  • You will be required to competently complete assessment tasks for all 9 units of learning

Assessments are made up by a range of:

  • Case studies
  • Demonstration
  • Observations
  • Portfolio of evidence
  • Presentation
  • Questions & answers
  • Research report

To be deemed competent:

  • You will receive clear assessment instructions
  • You must complete all assessments to a satisfactory standard as set by your trainer
  • These are assessed by your trainer
  • Opportunities will be provided for trainers to support students and to resubmit their assessments if required

When you have completed and been deemed competent you can:

  • Progress with SGSCC to the CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services or CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support

Fee and Payment options:

  • $990 (maximum Smart & Skilled student fee)
  • $2,000 (fee for those who are ineligible for Smart & Skilled)
  • Pay in full or by Interest-free monthly payment plan
  • By Cash, EFTPOS, Visa or MasterCard
